چکیده

Bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA) and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) are methods to estimate human body composition. This study aimed compare sex-specific outcomes for estimating segmental whole-body composition in 83 healthy participants (21.9 ± 1.5 years, 56% men) using Inbody S10 BIA Norland Elite DXA devices. One-way repeated measures ANOVAs showed significantly lower fat% fat mass values alongside higher lean resulting from when compared (both sexes: p < 0.001). In men, bone mineral content was against (p Regardless of sex, no significant versus difference found arm (men: = 0.180, women: 0.233), whereas leg were with Additionally, 0.001) (only DXA. Moderate very strong positive associations 0.05) between outcome found, except 0.904, 0.130) men: 0.845). highlights (sex-dependent) differences corresponding test both at the level.

Body composition in subjects with anorexia nervosa: bioelectrical impedance analysis and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the applicability and validity of bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) compared with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in a population of girls with restrictive anorexia nervosa (AN). METHODS A total of 30 girls (11-19 years old) with AN were enrolled. DXA and BIA (BIA software and the Deurenberg equations) were used to estimate the body composition. The correlati...

Sex- and age-specific percentiles of body composition indices for Chinese adults using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry

PURPOSE The aims of the study were to develop sex- and age-specific percentiles for lean mass index (LMI), appendicular LMI (aLMI), fat mass index (FMI), and body fat distribution indices in Chinese adults using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and to compare those indices with those of other ethnicities using the US NHANES data. METHODS Whole-body and regional lean mass and fat mass (...

Body composition analysis by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry in adults with cystic fibrosis.

Assessment of nutritional status is important in cystic fibrosis (CF). We performed body composition analysis by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in 12 adults with CF, 7 of them with malnutrition as defined by percentage of ideal body weight (IBW) lower than 90. The DXA allowed for determination of bone body mass (BBM), lean body mass (LBM), and fat body mass (FBM). A deficit in BBM and L...

In vivo validation of whole body composition estimates from dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.

We validated whole body composition estimates from dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) against estimates from a four-component model to determine whether accuracy is affected by gender, race, athletic status, or musculoskeletal development in young adults. Measurements of body density by hydrostatic weighing, body water by deuterium dilution, and bone mineral by whole body DEXA were obtaine...

Estimates of body composition with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry in adults.

BACKGROUND Little is known about the distributions of percentage body fat (PBF), total body fat (TBF), and fat-free mass (FFM) in the adult population in the United States. OBJECTIVES We sought to estimate the means and percentile cutoffs of PBF, TBF, and FFM and to assess the differences by sex, age, race-ethnicity, and body mass index in US adults. DESIGN Data from the National Health and...
